BENEFITS OF A GAS FIREPLACE
A gas fireplace offers convenience and a low-maintenance alternative to a traditional wood-burning unit, while adding style to any room with a flick of a switch – most models are controlled with a remote. Gas fireplaces are excellent for concentrating heat in the living areas you spend your time in. This allows you to minimize your home’s central heating systems – saving energy and lowering costs. In fact, it’s estimated that homeowners save a whopping 25% of their energy bill when they utilize their gas fireplace instead of central heating. Gas fireplaces continue to operate when the power goes out – a great backup during storms or other emergencies.
Gas inserts, or gas logs are another great gas alternative to burning wood, and can be inserted into any existing unit. Gas fireplace inserts dramatically change the efficiency of any fireplace. Instead of losing precious heat and energy from the draft of an open-masonry hearth, gas inserts allow the preservation of heat energy and propel warmth into the room during those cold winter months. Gas inserts add value and warmth to any living space and are easily controlled by the flick of a switch. Say goodbye to draft, ash and smoke and hello to an easy, enjoyable and relaxing fireside experience.
DO I NEED A GAS FIREPLACE OR A GAS INSERT?
Great question! And one we hear quite often. If you have an existing masonry fireplace, then an insert provides an appealing lower-cost option for you, since there is no need for a full gas fireplace. Inserts and fireplaces look very similar – so the only real differentiating factor is the cost, and whether or not your home requires a full fireplace, or an insert.
If you have an existing gas fireplace, then you need to replace that with another gas fireplace; an insert would not be for you in this case. If you have no fireplace at all, then you would also need a full gas fireplace, as an insert requires a pre-constructed opening. If you are having a home built, then a full gas fireplace would also be your best option.

ELECTRIC FIREPLACES – ANOTHER HOT OPTION!
Wall mount fireplaces, which seem to be all the rage at home shows across the nation, are actually just electric fireplaces. An electric fireplace is a more cost effective option that continues to add style and warmth to any room you desire. Although there are no actual flames, log sets and digital images have evolved to closely emulate actual fire. Electric fireplaces make a great alternative to clunky space heaters, which could pose fire hazards. Electric fireplaces do not require any installation and are a great choice for smaller spaces in offices, condos, or apartments. Built-in and cabinet-designed fireplaces are durable, portable, and affordable. Available in traditional or modern settings, Miller Brick carries a wide range of Heatilator electric fireplaces that will provide the iridescent ambiance you want with low maintenance and simple operation you crave. Portability means mobility, and the option to move from room to room – just plug in and enjoy!
